Meet Shaun 

Shaun Toohey has lived in Haverhill for over 20 years and with his wife Tatum, they have raised their two children in Haverhill. Along with volunteer work in coaching and helping others, Shaun has dedicated the past 13 years on the Haverhill School Committee. Shaun is a small business owner and has the background and experience to deliver for Haverhill while bringing needed balance to Beacon Hill.

Issues

Education

As a 13 year School Committee member, Shaun will continue to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to improve our schools and reform state local aid formulas to properly fund special education, transportation, and health care costs.

Constituent Services

As your State Representative, Shaun will work tirelessly to make sure that issues and concerns with state agencies are addressed and that you are well-represented on Beacon Hill.

Economic Development

As a small business owner, Shaun knows that lower taxes and less regulation helps grow small businesses and creates job opportunities. Shaun will hold quarterly business roundtable forums to discuss strategies on how to make Massachusetts more business-friendly.

Toohey announces run for state representative

HAVERHILL — There are now three candidates running in the special election to fill the seat being vacated by longtime state Rep. Brian Dempsey.

School Committeeman Shaun Toohey, who had previously intended to run for the City Council this fall, is switching gears and mounting a campaign for the 3rd Essex District seat Dempsey held for almost 27 years. Dempsey, a Democrat, had become a powerful member of the House leadership, rising to the chairmanship of the budget-setting Ways and Means Committee.
